Medicare rebates are available for clients referred by a General Practitioner who are deemed suitable for a Mental Health Care Plan. You can receive rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
All our psychologists at Kare Psychology are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and have Medicare provider numbers which enables clients to claim a Medicare rebate for individual counselling sessions and or group sessions.
At Kare Psychology we are usually able to process your Medicare rebates on the day of your appointment. We provide this options to reduce your stress – as the client you won’t need to visit a Medicare centre to claim and receive your rebate. It is generally transferred into your bank account within 24 hours.
A referral is required prior to your first appointment with your psychologist in order to receive a Medicare rebates.
Our principal psychologist is also registered with the ATAPS (Access to Allied Health Psychological Services) scheme, under which patients are eligible for a maximum of 12 sessions per calendar year. This is offered to client who are considered low income earners. Please speak with your General Practitioner to determine suitability for an ATAPS referral.
Additional Referral Methods
Clients may access therapy sessions under other referral methods if suitable. See below. Client that are eligible to be referred under Victims of crime, Workcover or TAC have the cost of sessions covered in full by the referring body.
Private health insurance – Client’s with private health insurance
Victims of crime – For person who may have been a victim of crime
Workcover – A person suffering a from mental health issues that has resulted from a work-related injury or illness (you will need to speak to your general practitioner and/or employer about eligibility)
TAC – A person who has sustained an injury in a transport accident (you will need to speak to your general practitioner and/or TAC)
A cancellation fee of $50 applies to cancellations of less than 24hrs notice. Appointments can be rescheduled by contacting Kare Psychology either by phone or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
